Many people do not know what actually the Historical Building Materials in old Architectural Buildings are. The explanation is very easy:

The Historical Building Materials are Building Parts, which originate from old buildings and were ready to breakdown. Indeed they don’t breakdown the Historical Buildings because they can use all old material for a professional reconstruction, renovation, or makeover. Of course it will be very expensive and costs time.

Generally all Building Materials are reusable. There are many easy to reuse Building Material for the new Design and Architecture:

Clay Breaks

Clinkers

Framework

Windows

Doors

If any Building Material is not on my list then it doesn’t mean you cannot reuse anything else.  It is usually so that the Building Materials in bulk and big dimension like Breaks are better to use than other materials.

When the painful reconstruction is finished then they can reuse the fresh polished clinkers. With some luck and good eyes they can build the old clinkers and breaks in the new reconstruction and it could look like a new building.

Why should we reuse the Historical Buildings Materials?

There are two reasons why we should reuse all those materials:

First we should protect the historical monuments and buildings. By historical monuments and buildings, it is very important to find the equal materials. If you can reuse the old materials in the new reconstruction then the visitors could not see that somewhere in the building was rebuilt.

Second you can reuse all old building materials in the new buildings. There many people who have filling for the old materials. Every Break, Column, Door, etc. could tell you a history. A visible history. There are grain, irregularities, discolorations, Patina and much more. The new and modern material cannot present something like that. That is the reason why many factories try to make materials what look old. But the problem is all those new materials look the same.

Real individuality you can find just by old building materials. In this case every single stone will be unique.

Unfortunately there isn’t any dealer for historical buildings materials. And that is the reason why we should keep the old and historical material for the future.
