The Persian community in the US, Canada, and Europe say a big NO to the movie 300 as a protest.

 

The Hollywood blockbuster 300 is the newest action against Persian culture. This issue is going to destroy image of antic Persia like the movie “Not without my daughter" or “No without my daughter”.

 

In this movie a small Spartan army resisted a Persian army with hundreds of thousands soldiers without any problem. This movie is only with computer and special effects. They wanted to finish it quickly because of American pressure on Iranian nuclear program. They made this movie less than 3 months. My question is why so fast? I am not going to be for Mullah Regime and say they should have atom bombs but why so much pressure when they want to use it for electricity? Anyway it is not right to make some movie to insult the Persian culture and history.

 

Why did they use Frank Miller’s graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC? He doses just fantasy graphic. He does not have any idea about Iranian and their culture. He dreams and after that writes and sketch on the paper. There are many of popular Greek historical documents what say something else than Frank Miller’s graphic. My question is why Hollywood did not use facts? Why did they want to use fantasy and propaganda? I can imagine you know this answer.

 

I like to say something about this movie and his creators. The film shows the Spartan king and his army of 300 - white, muscular soldiers - strongly resisting Xerxes and his savage Persian army of hundreds of thousands. What does it say to you? Isn’t it racist? They show white people beat the black people? They show the Persian leaders as black people who are and not significant.


By Frank Miller’s work is always the same. White and smart people resist another people with another skin. Is there anyone to ask, why he does that? I thought we are modern people now and something like that is forgotten?

 

Award winning Iranian blogger and journalist Omid Memarian said: “Not only does it give the wrong outcomes to battles; it grossly misrepresents the Persians and their civilization. It is unfortunate that very few curriculums in the US cover world history and it is very easy to misdirect the general public on historical facts.”

 

Warner Brothers, the film's producers, says: “This movie is based on facts and history.”  But you should ask them why Frank Muller’s graphical history what are not based on historical facts?

 

How would American people react if someone makes a film about American history and independents’ day that the American was the loser?
