Are you an advanced Windows user? Then you probably need this little change in the registry in your Microsoft Windows to bypass “open with lookup web service” message.

When you are opening a file that doesn´t have a registered associated application then you receive the message which is asking you to use web server to specify what file to use to open the file. For many users the web service is very helpful but it is annoying for professional users, because you already know what application you should use to open the file.

It is as easy as drinking water. You just have to change something in registry to bypass the entire message and land automatically to the list of application on your computer. That means you are one step faster to open your file with associated software.

Here there is how it works:

1-Type regedit in command prompt and hit the enter key (You can also use the search in Start Menu in Windows Vista or Windows 7)

2-Open:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\

SOFTWARE\

Microsoft\

Windows\

CurrentVersion\

Policies\

Explorer

3-Create a DWORD called NoInternetOpenWith and set the value data to 1

4-Restart your computer

After that you will be taken directly to the application list of your computer when you want to open an unknown file.

I hope I could give a short but useful advice to make your working at the computer faster.
