I am a jack of all trades. My mission in life has been helping others and stirring up drama where ever I go. My passion in life is my nephew; he gives me the strength to continue each day. His outlook on life is so pure and innocent untainted by life’s challenges

I can finally say that I am proud to be an American, for the last eight years my faith in the political system has diminished I was at rock bottom and then Barack Obama came into our lives.
I was moved to pick myself up and to change my outlook on our once great nation. His words made me believe in hope once again, they stirred something deep inside creating a momentum all across the nation. His laid back attitude mixed with powerful encouraging speeches propelled me to get involved. I had never participated in an election before, I was always the one voicing my opinions and yet doing nothing to back up the words. This time around I did get involved, I cared enough, I believed that our country was worth it, I saw the vision he presented.
I became a part of a small grass roots campaign spray painting and painting Obama’s image on four hundred 3 and 8 foot signs, three of us worked tirelessly on these signs we were all brought together with the same vision; HOPE. I did not take the conventional route of working for the democratic campaign; I did what I felt moved to do.
After listening to President Obama’s inaugural speech I felt a sense of completion and yet I saw the long road ahead. A road that included me I could chose how I wanted to help restore this great nation, I could make a difference, I could have a say in what actually goes on around me. I feel compelled to get involved in my community, to be a part of the change I expect to see in President Obama’s term. I want to help those in need, smile on the streets, encourage others dreams while following my own, be an inspiration to my nephew, to love more, hold grudges less, reach out and speak out. I have a voice, I have a mission, I want to be a part of something great. I HAVE HOPE.
Much like Asthon Kutcher and Demi Moore’s Presidential Pledge I believe we should all make a pledge to ourselves and to our communities. With one person’s pledge, that is a beginning, with a community’s pledge that is a rumble with a nation’s pledge that is a movement. It is time for us to all stand up and pledge to be the best human beings we know how to be.
What is your pledge?
