You need superpower to protect your files in your computer against the evil-hackers. I have tested the super-heroes to find out if Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera is the best browser for you in internet.
What do a Superhero and an Internet-Browser have in common? Both have special abilities and skills that they can use them against the devils in the world. There are Joker, Luthor and Lex against the Superheroes and the Hackers against the Super-Browsers. The answer is quick and old like the answer to the question if Superman is better than Batman or Spiderman. In this article I will clear it for the web-browsers. Firefox 3, Opera 9.5, Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 are the main competitors in my test. I did not test Apple´s Safari-Browser because only 2 percent of the inter users are using Safari as their web-browser.
In my test, the browsers have to prove if they have the right weapons against the hackers in internet, also to demonstrate if they can make our life easier and they also should be fast as lightning.
The results are alarming. About %65 of internet users trust a browser, which does not protect them in internet. Internet users are using Internet Explorer (IE) with lots of bug and security problems which let any hacker to attack your system.
The safest browser is Opera in the second place in my test. Opera provides you a live-warning if a website could attack your computer, has the most excellent Cookie-Management, blocks all Advertizing-Banners and Pop-Ups, and lets to setup the security-preferences individual for every single website. Opera did not show any open leak in my test. Perfect!
There are many open leaks for Firefox and Internet Explorer, which the hackers can use to attack your system. Firefox had only one leak but it was the most dangerous security level. The worst browsers in security are both browsers Internet Explorer 7 and 8 from Microsoft. The reason is that IE8 Beta1 still has the security problems from its big brother Internet Explorer 7. Internet Explorer is the only browser which uses the Software-Component ActiveX. ActiveX-Plug-Ins has automatically too many rights and permissions. If a hacker finds a leak, then he can connect to your operation system very easily. %89 of attacks in internet are through ActiveX-Plug-Ins, Symantec has reported in the past.
Opera and Firefox don´t use ActiveX at all. In internet Explorer you can turn off the ActiveX-Plug-Ins but Microsoft does not do that automatically. But you are able to kill if you want to. The Windows Vista-Users have advantage: Internet Explorer 7 and 8 run in a protected modus, which blocks starting of bugs and harm-applications in internet. Even though, the users of Windows Vista should not feel secure in internet with Internet Explorer.
A superhero needs nice costume and special skills. Even a Super-Browser needs to look nice and modern and support features such as tabbing, showing RSS-Feeds, integration of search engines, and etc. All browsers in my test could do all these functions.
If you would take a look at the features then Opera could have the best chance being the number one in my test. Only few examples: in Opera you do not only surf in Tabs also you can setup many variations with the practical riders. You are able to bookmark the entire preview of the quick-tabs with the exact order. For example, you can create bookmarks one for the office and another one for your home. Opera is the only web-browser that you can setup the preferences individual for each website. You can scale the every site, pictures. Excellent!
Microsoft has integrated an interesting feature in Internet Explorer 8 which is called Automatic Crash Recovery. With this feature you can restore and open the exact tabs, which you had opened before a system crash. But Opera and Firefox have done it for long time ago.
Firefox-Users are able to extend the features with additional Plug-Ins. Opera cannot keep up with Firefox with hundreds of additional Plug-Ins, which can make your life much easier.
Seconds decide, if the Superhero does not show up in the crime scene, then the Blonde will fall from the Skyscraper. It is not too dramatic for web-browsers, but who likes to wait to open a website for a long time.
Firefox build the Google Map website in less than one second. Opera take so long that you have the feeling Opera wants to rescue the whole world. It bugs massive. Internet Explorer is much faster than Opera in this test.
In this test we have one winner and two losers. Absolutely precise Firefox could beat Opera and take the first position as the Super-Browser. But Opera is the number one in security. Internet explorer 7 and 8 Beta1 are the losers in this test because of leaks in the security and functionality.
