Right now I am almost the happiest man on the planet but it was not the same in last few weeks. Every time I have tried to upgrade my Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server x64 it was not possible and I was beating my head to the wall.
You may ask it is easy, put your Windows x64 into the CD ROM and start to install your Windows 64bit over Windows Server 2008 x86. But Microsoft does not allow that. You cannot even have a clean install of Windows Server x64 over your Windows Server x86.
The question is why Microsoft does that? They are advertizing for the new generation of Windows with 64bit extension but you cannot even install it over your older Windows Server 2003 or the latest one Windows Server 2008 with 32bit extension. And everyone knows you cannot format your server for just upgrading to a new Operation system because you can lose everything and it is not fun with a server.
I have heard that the server producers have already recognize this problem and they are giving some solution to make it works to install Windows Server x64 over Windows Server x86.
I said I am right now the happiest man on the planet earth but almost because I have to wait and see if my Server´s Company has any solution for me. I heard that ServerBeach offers an amazing solution for their clients which allows a completely unattended upgrade to Windows Server 2008 x64 from inside Windows Server 2003 x86.
Maybe I will try what ServerBeach is offering and it may works for me too. I am sure I will come back and let you know about my solution how I could install Windows Server 2008 x64 over my Windows Server 2003 x86.
