There are many critics for Windows Vista because of application and hardware compatibility and low performance with older computers. But Microsoft has developed many new features which allow you to boost the performance of your Windows Vista. In many different ways you can help your older computer to run Windows Vista much smoother than before.
The most important new Feature in Windows Vista is the integrated ReadyBoost function. ReadyBoost can help your PC by giving them more high speed memory. It is known that Windows write all running application on the hard drives if you do not have enough space in your RAM. This can decrease the performance of your Windows Vista.
With ReadyBoost you can help your computer running better with your application if you run out of memory space in RAM. ReadyBoost works with a USB storage device that is much faster than hard drive for writing and reading the files. This can help Windows Vista to run with higher performance.
You just need an USB storage device to use ReadyBoost in your Windows Vista. There are some requirements for using ReadyBoost in Windows Vista:
1. USB Storage Device with minimum 64 MB
2. It has to have USB 2.0
3. Reading speed should be at least 3.5 MB/s
4. Writing speed should be at least 2.5 MB/s
There are very good USA storage devices available in the market with good prices. You maybe ask how I can use the ReadyBoost feature in Windows Vista:
1. Plug in USB storage device into your USB port.
2. Go to Start / Computer / right click on the removable storage device / select Properties.
3. If your USB storage device is compatible with ReadyBoost, you will see a ReadyBoost tab.
4. Click on ReadyBoost Tab.
5. Select Use this device and select the amount of space on it you want to dedicate for the ReadyBoost system file.
6. Click OK and then you are ready to use ReadyBoost to boost the performance of Windows Vista.
I hope I could give you a good tip to boost the performance of Windows Vista with your older computer.
