Already 22 percent of European households are calling over the Internet. The highest numbers are from Latvia with 58%, Lithuania with 51%, the Czech Republic with 50%, Poland 49%, and Bulgaria with 46%. EU Commission has studies the calling habits of European from 27,000 households in 27 Europe countries.

 

More and more users switch from fixed-line telephony to mobile phones and about 24 percent of households in the 27 EU countries use only the phone. These numbers are much higher in east European countries. 29 percent of European households and nearly 10 percent more than last year also make use of combined telecommunications and media solutions.

Almost half of European households have Internet access (49 percent), and most of them have broadband connections (36 percent - and 8 percentage points more than in winter 2007). 22 percent of Europeans have difficulties in their Internet service provider connecting into the Internet.
