Windows Live had different Functionalities and also a non-uniform design with complicated names. Windows Live had another problem, because all different services had different designs and you could not recognize the idea behind the design to navigate yourselves into the services.

Microsoft has decided to change the design of all Windows Live services to a similar and simple design that every user will be able to use all services without any problem.

Microsoft wants to work with Windows Live “Wave 3”. It shares the updates in “waves”, because not all services won´t be updated at the same time. In the new design, Microsoft removes the green-bluish bars and the "Start" button disappears as well.

The basic functions of Windows Live will be similar to Google in a simple text shape, with over drop-down menus and additional features, as well as MSN explore.

Instead of the previously used bar, visitors can choose a background. Microsoft provides a range of different backgrounds to choose from. Also Windows Live visitors will be able to use probably own pictures.

The users will be able to use central search function in Windows Live services differently. This field is created slightly transparent, that it does not distract the users. In addition, Microsoft has removed the green search button, because the users do not use that button anymore.

Another change is the logo placement. The Logo of different services won´t be shown on top of the page but they will be shown in the middle left side of the page, where the users can recognize it better than before.

We will see if the new design in Windows Live will help Microsoft against Google. I am sure I will report more about it after Microsoft has established the new design in all different Windows Live services.
