Yesterday we reported, relying on the Trans script demonstration of the multi-touch features of Windows code-named "7", that Vista's successor comes with the feature "dock", which could be a copy from Apple's Mac OS X.
Meanwhile, it is clear that Windows 7 probably won´t get a dock, but much more a revised taskbar.
Microsoft speaker did not say anything about the new taskbar because it is still a secret and Microsoft is working hard on it.
The specialist for user interface design of Windows 7 presented some of the new multi-touch features by Windows 7. She was responsible for Microsoft Office 2007 in last three years before 2007 came to the market.
In Windows 7 the size of the taskbar is double time higher than what we know from Windows XP and Vista. The new taskbar in Windows 7 has significantly higher "design".
Windows Logo remains on the left side and still it stands a little bit above the upper edge of the taskbar. It seems that the entire taskbar is designed with strong color contrasts in different areas.
The basic background is dark but still has transparency. It seems that you can fill the transparency much better than in Vista.
We have to wait till Microsoft shows what they really are going to do with the surface and multi-touch features in Windows 7.
The question is if the Windows users are really looking for kind of multi-touch features. I believe that the security, stability and performance are much more important for Windows users. If Microsoft can provide these features with Windows 7 then we can say Microsoft is standing in a right place against Mac OS X.
