I am a jack of all trades. My mission in life has been helping others and stirring up drama where ever I go. My passion in life is my nephew; he gives me the strength to continue each day. His outlook on life is so pure and innocent untainted by life’s challenges
View all articles by Eiler VansantMy experience with Windows Vista was a complete disaster. I am not a very savvy computer person to begin with so when my brother-in-law put Vista on the computer I was naturally apprehensive. I should also make note that I do not have very good luck with mechanical and electrical items.
With that being said I started my computer with excitement and fear and much to my dismay I could not make anything work. It was not compatible with any hardware. My favorite program is Picasa2, I use it every day to send photos to family and I was extremely disappointed when the transparencies and aero glass did not allow it to work.
After days I just was feeling that my computer is going to be slower and slower. I was looking all over in internet to find out, what is going on with my poor computer. I was wondered because I never had this issue when I had Windows XP on my PC.
Anyway I could find any answer for that. And one day I went to YMCA and after I came home I smelled some burned plastic in my room. But I could not figure it out where it is coming from. I listed after that my computer is making very loud noises and after investigating I found out, that all my hardware like Hard Drives, CPU, and graphic device are making noises when I using my applications like Photoshop.
Then without any indications the computer would shut down, not once or twice it did this over and over again, I cannot express in words how this felt but the worst was yet to come. The computer could not handle the programs and Microsoft Windows Vista with that crap aero glass and therefore the motherboard and processor died without any caution. I am so turned off by Vista that I seriously want to invest in a MAC so I can run Picasa and not be afraid every time I turn on a computer.
I believe I am not the only person who has had issues with Microsoft Windows Vista. I have read a lot about Mac and Apple computers and I am saving money for my biggest upgrade ever.
I believe it will be my biggest day when I get my first Apple Computer. I cannot wait.

Hi,
I had somehow the same experience with Windows Vista. I bought a MAC and I can tell you, I just love it, because I have had never any issues with my Apple Computer, after I switched to it. You need few days to understand MAC computer and after that you are ready to go. It is fast, secure and beautiful design too.

I didn't even give Vista the time of day. In order to run Vista, I would have had to buy a whole new computer, so I said, what the heck and I bought a Mac instead. Best thing I ever did. It took about 3 days to learn the in's and out's of OS X and it is so worth it! Save your pennies!

Thank you very much for your respond. Maybe we are able to do something against Bill Gate´s making money machine.
I hope we can get more positive reviews about MAC Computers.

Are you accepting positive reviews for Vista? I admire & respect successful people like Bill Gates, but I don't allow their success to cloud my opinion. Dare I say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE VISTA. I use the Windows Photo Gallery and Picasa and both serve a purpose for me. Life is good.

Good luck with the switch. As other people here have said, after a few days you should be pretty used to the OS.
Also, just thought you should know that it's written as Mac, not MAC. MAC stands for Media Access Control. Mac is short for Macintosh.

Thank you for correcting my dictate. But I do not care about it. I just know Apple computer will be the right choice for me.

I believe sometimes we won´t have any Microsoft PC because Mac is growing continually and every Windows user will change to Apple Computers.

I am simply stunned by the amount of misinformation in this article and the comments that agree with it. There is absolutely no way that Microsoft Vista could have caused your hardware problems. It seems obvious that there is a problem with your hard drive which may be more pronounced with Vista, because it does advanced things like create indexes of your files to allow for instant searches (a good thing). You then blame aero for your problems, but have said earlier that aero could not run. If aero does not run on a machine then Vista defaults to using the same technology Windows XP used to display the interface. Software, does not cause hardware problems ever. Your problem likely happened to coincide with your Vista upgrade. Thats all it is, a coincidence.
There are reasons to dislike Vista (It does hog ram and perform more slowly on older machines because it runs a lot more features in the background. Shame on Microsoft for making that default) but it really is not as horrible as people make it out to be. Also, since the new service pack it runs much better.
If you want to switch to a Mac great, they make wonderful computers (I am typing this on a MacBook) but don't bash something you admit to having little experience with. If you search forums you will find plenty of people having problems with their Macs as well. Why do you think the Genius Bar is always so crowded.

I have been always a Windows user. I actually never ever touched Mac computers, because they are too expensive for me. Anyway, I can´t tell stories about Windows and its stability. Yes, I have had many time crashes with my Windows especially with Windows 98, 2000, and Millennium. Windows XP was the most stable operation system ever after all my experiences with Windows 98, 2000, and etc. after Windows XP, I bought a new computer and then installed Windows Vista Ultimate x64 edition. I have been using it till last month after I installed Windows 7 Release Candidate. I am telling the through, I really never ever had any problem with Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and now after I installed Windows 7, I can say, that Windows 7 is going to be the most powerful operation system ever. Microsoft is still working on Windows 7 and you will be able to buy at the stores on July 10th 2009. I just wanted to say, that the Mac users might have their own problem too, because there is no guarantee that an application can be perfect, how Macintosh is advertizing for it at TV.
