I have been using Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate for 6 months. It is running on my Intel Dual-Core with 1.6 GHz. I was a Windows XP Professional user. I have had my Microsoft Windows XP more than 5 years and it was time for a big update. My iTunes was running fine on my Windows XP but I wanted to update to Vista 64-bit Ultimate anyway.

On my old system with Window XP I could use my iTunes without any problem, because it was working well on my system. But after I installed my new Windows Vista 64-bit, I found out, that I have to say adios to my iTunes.

Everything was looking good with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. All my hardware were working fine, all my software like AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Photoshop, Adobe Macromedia products but there was a big issue with my iPod. I could not update my music on my iPod Nano.

Then I decided to look for an answer how I can run my iTunes on my Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate. I have found many ways but any of them did work for me. After all I decided to contact Apple to find out, if they have any solution for iTunes problem on Windows Vista 64-bit.

You cannot believe me, they answered to my question and they told me what I have to do to run my iTunes on my Windows Vista 64-bit ultimate edition. They told me that Microsoft Windows Vista-64 has a problem in his core and iTunes cannot install Visual Basic Script –VBScript-. I was shocked because Windows Vista 64-bit has already preinstalled all scripting components.

They told me the reason of this issue could be because of VBScript.dll. When you are installing iTunes on your Vista 64-bit machine, it cannot register your VBScript.dll. They told me I have to register that file manually. I did it exactly how they described it to me and finally I was happy again and I could update my iPod Nano.

Here is the solution for running iTunes on Windows Vista 64-bit

1-    Log in as administrator

2-    Got to the Start Menu

3-    Click on all Programs

4-    Open Accessories

5-    Right click on Command Prompt

6-    Click on –Run as Administrator-

7-    Type: “cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64″ and click Enter

8-    Type: regsvr32 vbscript.dll and click Enter

9-    Restart your computer and enjoy your iTunes and iPod

Actually Apple has updated his iTunes and you don´t need any more to do all these steps. But still there is a problem between QuickTime and Windows Vista 64-bit and hope they will solve this problem too.
